5. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARK ON CAMPUS?

Campus parking runs from September 1st - August 31st and permits are valid for that time period. Everyone who parks on campus must reapply for parking each and every year. Your options for paying to park are:
--Monthly pre-tax payroll deduction from September through May
--Monthly post-tax payroll deduction from September through May
--Pay in full by either credit card or personal check
If you apply for parking by the end of the year (May - August), you will be required to pay for parking in full by either cash, check, or credit card.

Furthermore, Agency Staff, Emeritus, and individuals in a Zero "0" Dollar pay status are also required to pay for their parking in full by either cash, check, or credit card no matter when during the parking year they apply.

If you are a UW Medical Foundation (UWMF) employee and you apply for parking, the following applies to you:
-- When you receive your parking Offer, you need to go on-line to accept your parking Offer.
-- You only have the choice (in the payment step) to either pay with Check or Credit Card. At this point, you click on Check.
-- Once you complete the final step (of the 6 step process), print out your receipt
-- Take that receipt and deliver it to UWMF Human Resources (Attn: Diana) along with the UWHC's Parking Pre-Tax Payment Option Form (click on link below) who will then submit to UWMF Payroll. UWMF will then submit a check to UW Transportation Services and will also set up payroll deduction for you to reimburse UWMF for paying for your parking.

6. HOW ARE CAMPUS PARKING LOT ASSIGNMENTS MADE?

The University owns and controls all campus parking facilities. Health Sciences Unit consists of School of Medicine and Public Health, Nursing and Pharmacy Schools, University Hospital and Clinics, State Lab of Hygiene, University Health Services, and UW Medical Foundation. All applicants within the Unit get 100 points for every $1,000 of salary and six points for each year of service (campus and/or state). Example:

--Salary Points: $32,000 / 100 = 320
--Start Date: 2002
--Longevity Points: 2006 - 2002 = 4 X 6 = 24
--Total Parking Points: 320 + 24 = 344

Priority number assigned based on Total Parking Points.

7. CAN I APPLY FOR PARKING AT ANY TIME THROUGHOUT THE YEAR?

Yes. The annual parking offers are made during the summer and customers must claim their parking assignment by early August. After the initial assignments are made, new customers can apply for parking anytime througout the year. New parking requests are processed and assignments made every two weeks "bi-weekly spin" from September through May of each year.

8. CAN I APPLY FOR MORE THAN ONE LOT?

Yes. It is encouraged that applicants initially apply for the maximum of four (4) lots that they would consider, since many of the lots are difficult to get into. Applicants who accept an initial lot assignment can apply for one additional lot and can only be on one waitlist until an offer to that lot becomes available.

9. WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO A COMPUTER OR EMAIL SYSTEM?

While email is the preferred method, the Health Sciences Unit Transportation Coordinator can assist those employees who do not have email access by stopping by the office (HSLC Room 1375), Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or by calling 608-263-7943.
