Health Sciences Transportation Unit Managed by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Facilities Department
Welcome to the Health Sciences Transportation Unit website. This website IS NOT the UW Transportation Services website. It is designed specifically to obtain general information and request to apply for campus parking.
The Health Sciences Unit consists of employees (faculty and staff) working at University of Wisconsin (UW) School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), School of Nursing (SoN), School of Pharmacy (SoP), UW Hospital and Clinics (UWHC), UW Medical Foundation (UWMF), University Health Services (UHS), and the State Lab of Hygiene (SLH).
NOTE:
1. If you are a Traveler, Contract Worker, or Per Diem employee, you are not eligible to request Parking through this website. Please go through your department for parking assistance.
2. If you are a UWHC employee who works PMs or nights (i.e. 2:30pm - 11:00pm or 7:00pm - 7:00am), contact Angela Johnson at Hospital Administration either by phone 263-9207 or email AJohnson4@uwhealth.org to obtain the proper permit. You do not apply for this permit through this website.
3. If you are a Student, you ARE NOT eligible to request parking through this website. Please read the following as it applies to Students:
Students CANNOT apply for parking through the Health Sciences Unit. In order to apply as a Student, you must first meet the following:
-- Must be a commuter first and foremost to even qualify for student parking on the UW Madison campus. If not commuting from outside of Madison, your application will be denied automatically.
-- The next criteria is if not commuting, must be employed at least 3 days a week.
-- If not a commuter and qualifies under the first criteria, just follow the information below:
Please fill out an application on Transportation Services website (click on the link below). Once there, please fill out the appropriate student parking application (i.e. for parking starting on September 1, 2009, click on the 2009/2010 student parking application).

A. If you have a NetID and Password and currently have campus parking, go directly to UW Transportation Services website (click on the link below), and follow these steps:
1. Highlight Permit Customer on the top left of the page, then
2. Click on the Apply/Update Permit,
3. Enter your Net ID & Password, and
4. Follow these steps:
* Click on the Customer Tab on top:
This tab is for your Name, mailing address, e-mail address, and vehicle license plate(s). This tab must be kept up-to-date because this is where both the Offer for parking and Annual Renewals will be sent.
1. Click on Vehicle (Ensure you have your license plate number(s) with you). Enter your vehicle license plate number(s), state for plate(s), and type (use down arrow to select appropriate type). NOTE: Vehicles must be entered before Lots can be applied for.
2. Click on Contact Information. This is how Transportation Services communicates with you so it is imperative that this information is correct and up-to-date.
* Click on Home (or Other) and fill in your home mailing address (if not already there). This is where your annual permits are mailed during annual renewal process during the summer time.
* Then ensure your email address is correct (select the email address or add the email address that you check the most), then Click Save.
* Click on the Permit Tab on top:
If you need parking immediately, then click on Permits Currently Available. NOTE: Wait until (2) two days prior to your start date. This will alleviate you paying for days that you do not need to:
1. Select Apply,
2. Select Permits Currently Available,
3. Select the Lot (i.e. if you work in/around UWHC, you would select either Lot 85 or Lot 76),
4. Accept your Offer,
5. Select your payment (cash, check, or credit card). There are no more payroll deductions for the remainder of this year.
Once you complete these steps, you can pick that permit up after 11:00am the next business day (but no later than 2 business days after completing the process) at any one of the following UW Transportation Services Office, located at 610 Walnut Street, WARF Building, Room 124
Or, you can:
• Purchase Daily permits at $10.00 per day starting September 1, 2009
• Purchase Weekly permits at $50.00 per week starting September 1, 2009
• Purchase Monthly permits at $70.00 or $100.00 (based on annual cost of lot). NOTE: During the months of September and October, Transportation Services does not sell monthly permits.
* Permits September 1, 2009 through August 31, 2010.
This link is where you actually apply for the appropriate/current Parking Season (new parking season begins on September 1st each year). This tab is also where you apply for what Lot(s) you desire to park in (i.e. Base Lot-indicated by B, Flex Lot-indicated by F, as well as Disabled, Business Alternate, and Park & Ride). Again, it is recommended that you apply for more than one Lot (maximum of four) because it will give you a better chance to obtain campus parking. Just follow these steps:
1. Click on Permit Tab on top
2. Select Apply
3. Select Permits September 1, 2009 – August 31, 2010,
4. Select the Lots (i.e. if you work in/around UWHC, you would select, for example Lot 85 or Lot 76). NOTE: You are encouraged to select up to four (4) lots to better your chance of getting a lot assignment.
NOTE: IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION PROCESS, YOU MUST CLICK ON **SUBMIT CHOICES** AFTER YOU HAVE FINISHED SELECTING YOUR LOTS.
FOR UW HOSPITAL & CLINICS (UWHC) EMPLOYEES: For information on Hospital After-Hours Parking, contact Angela Johnson Hospital Administration either by email AJohnson4@uwhealth.org or call 608-623-9207.
NOTES:
-- If choosing Business Alternate, ensure that you provide proper justification.
-- If choosing Carpool, ensure you have carpooler(s) Net ID & License Plate information, complete the necessary form, and click on Save when completed.
-- If choosing Flex, ensure you complete the required form and click on Save when completed.
